This Black History Month there’s increased urgency across the United States to embrace the experiences and lives of Black people; to acknowledge the tragedies, the inequities, and the continued struggles; and to celebrate the glory and the richness of Black culture as American heritage.
And it is not President Joe Biden’s proclamation alone that is giving the needed impetus: citizen groups, educational institutions, corporate houses are of the consensus that change has to come. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
We at ASHA for Women stand committed in our support to the Black community, towards achieving racial justice and removing racism, some of which can be seen within our own South Asian community.
