“It wasn’t my fault; not where I was, not how I dressed” Follow the anthem of protest as it travels across the globe.

Chile set the stage in November last year as hundreds of women in evening gear flash mobbed in protest to an unceasing culture of rape and femicide.

And the protest has gone viral…traveled to cities in Argentina, Mexico, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, France, Turkey, India, Washington, with groups translating the chilling ‘Rapist is you’ in their own tongue.

‘Un Violador en Tu Camino’ or ‘Rapist in your way’ is a take on a line in the Chilean police anthem, which says, “Sleep calmly, innocent girl/ Without worrying about the bandit/For over your smiling, sweet dreams/watches your loving cop”.

THE ANTHEM: A rapist in your way (English translation)

The patriarchy is a judge
that judges us for being born
and our punishment
is the violence you don’t see.

The patriarchy is a judge
that judges us for being born
and our punishment
is the violence that have seen.

It’s femicide.
Impunity for the killer.
It’s disappearance.
It’s rape.

And the fault wasn’t mine, not where I was, not how I dressed
And the fault wasn’t mine, not where I was, not how I dressed
And the fault wasn’t mine, not where I was, not how I dressed
And the fault wasn’t mine, not where I was, not how I dressed

The rapist is you.
The rapist is you.

It’s the cops,
The judges,
The state,
The president.

The oppressive state is a rapist.
The oppressive state is a rapist.

The rapist is you
The rapist is you
